Autumn Day

Oooh, I shiver in the coolness of the crisp autumn day.
I wrap my scarf more tightly around my neck and blow into my cupped hands, trying to warm myself. I should be inside, IMing my friends and sipping tea.
But I can’t tear myself away from the beauty of this morning. The leaves twirl in a gusty breeze, waltzing in a stately manner. The air is alive with a smoky fall scent, prickling in my nostrils and filling me with love for this time of year.
The wind dances with my hair, blowing it about until strands catch in the frames of my glasses and the corners of my mouth. I am too cold to brush them away.
The solitude was overwhelming. I am happiest when I am by myself in a beautiful place. Some people think that’s not normal.
Really, I wonder, what IS normal? How can you judge something as normal when everyone is different?
I give up trying. I’ve thought that many times before.
I turn around and head home, breathing deeply and smiling to myself.
