It all started upside down...

It all started upside down.
That is, she was hanging upside down from one of the monkey bars in the local playground when she spotted him.
Brown hair spilling down in a somewhat frizzy, straight curtain, she blushed crimson under her freckled, pale skin.
She was Vivi Carson, high-schooler with oddly childlike traits and a love of pencil and ink for her drawings.
He was Ben Graham, quieter than Vivi but with a shared love of art (though he preferred paint as a medium.)
Both were sixteen years old, and though they were in the same art class, Vivi thought he probably didn’t know who she was.
She got down quickly from the monkey bars, landing rather clumsily in the sand. She hoped he hadn’t noticed her actually using the playground equipment.
Looking up, she saw, with renewed blushing, that he had noticed her and was heading her way.
“Oh my God, oh my God,” she muttered, feeling nervous.
