A Discussion in the Clubhouse

Wendall:

We sit in my clubhouse, Perry holding his Uncle Louie action figure and Maya holding a notebook and pencil. “So,” she says, “Uncle Louie wants Mrs. Widmeyer’s wallaby because he’s homesick for his home in Australia, and he’s pretending to woo Mrs. Widmeyer as part of the plan?”

“Well, wallabies do come from Australia,” I point out. “So it could be…”

Maya apparently does not agree. “I think maybe we need to talk to Uncle Louie himself,” she says.

Perry is all for this. “Yeah! Do you think he’ll give me a signature? Or two or three or seven?”

“Definitely,” I say, just to shut him up. I’m thinking about Maya’s idea. “Would that mean sitting through another tor- I mean concert?”

“We could just show up at the end,” she concedes. “There’s another one tomorrow at noon.”

We agree to meet here tomorrow at that time. In the meanwhile, I decide to do some more research. Who knows what goes on in Uncle Louie’s mind…

“I gotta go,” says Maya, looking at her watch.

“Kay. See you tomorrow!”
