Caught in a moment

As I walk down the street, I begin to notice the wind blowing ever so lightly, leaves tumbling along the sidewalk beside me. I suddenly sink back into myself and realize that I was watching things in slow motion.

I’ve often found myself in these transformative moments where I lose my grounding and am nudged by the motions around me.

A homeless man shakes his far-away gaze and looks up into my eyes. I feel shame and guilt for having walked past him a hundred times.

The colours on the trees beckon me to just give them notice.

With the screeching of tires, I slam back to the reality of the moment where the clock ticks it’s regular tick-tock.
