Her bell-like laughter clinked off the glass and metal atriums of the hospital’s recreation area, a glass enclosure of plants and benches. Adrien shuffled his feet nervously as she kept on chuckling.

Outside the park area, Vicky looked sadly on with Greg. “I just don’t know,” she muttered. She had her hands in her coat pockets.

Greg raised his eyebrows. “Look. I’ve known Adrien, well…truthfully, longer than you have. He may not really look it, but I’m sure he hasn’t been this happy in ages. She’s the company he needs. He’s been with us for far too long for it to be exciting.”

Vicky sighed and looked at the two people in the atrium, one olive-skinned, dark curly hair, clinging to the other fair-haired one for support. Sure, he was blind, but did he need that much leverage? Greg looked over at her, as if he had read her thoughts. He smirked.

“Oh, it’s not that bad.”

“I know,” she sighed.

On the other side of the glass, Adrien gave a genuine smile for the first time in ten years.

After reading this, I went back and read all the way to the first ficlet in this series. All I can say is wow. Not very articulate of me, I know, but that’s it. This feels like the finale. Say it ain’t so?

You know what, Stovohobo? You suck. You keep pumping out brilliant stories, and all of mine are horrible. I am jealous.
    Good job, as always.
