Boney and Fleshy Go Shopping

“Heh, we’ve got customers.”

I instinctively turned around, lost for a moment, and before I could think I was talking.

“Can I help you with-”

I stopped when I realized who…what…I was talking to.

There were two of them. They must have come in the back. They were both covered with fresh dirt. One mostly had flesh, the other was more skeletal than corporeal. To my surprise they answered, slowly, but clearly.

“Braaaaaaains.”

Bill was already moving. He grabbed the baseball bat from behind the counter and swung at the closer one.

“Sorry,” he yelled as he struck, “we don’t any available. But there’s a special on club sandwiches!”

Boney went flying across the store, smashing into a display. Fleshy lunged at Bill, but I had already grabbed the stool we’re forced to sit on at the register and smashed it into the second zombie. He was stunned but not out of it.

“Bill!” I yelled.

“What?”

“Dude, you totally ad-libbed a pun in a fight with zombies!”

“Yeah,” he grinned.

“That was pretty sweet.”

We ran.
