Religion: The Journey Back

The church was cold and she could see her breath form a tiny cloud as it escaped her lips. It was dark, no one was in the building except for her and maybe a few little church mice, but they never hurt anyone

She sank down onto the pew looked up at the cross on the wall. She shivered, but not because of the cold. It was just the act of being their that made her shake. Church and religion and Jesus had totally escaped her mind with all the problems and faults in her life.

Tears blossomed in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. A thought entered her head – the footprint prayer that she had been told of last summer. The prayer that stated when you were going through times of trial and their was only one set of footprints it was not because Jesus had abandoned but because he was carrying her.

She curled up inside the pew and sobbed. Her cries echoed through the church and she was glad that she was alone. She cried and prayed and conversed with God. She rejoiced and was humbled. Sitting their she felt together.
