The Right (2)

John: Oh I know you do. You make it very clear.
Wonderful. He grabbed my wrist then, pulling me back toward the clearing he made.
Me: John, I don’t like to be pulled.
Jonh: I know, that’s why I’m pulling you.

I grumbled silently while letting him lead me. He reached the clearing I hated so much and he turned me to face him.
John: No running. We need to talk.
Me: You say that like we are boyfriend and girlfriend or something.

His angry was growing visible; I was on thin ice as he clenched his teeth.
John: We are not, but that doesn’t matter. If I let go of you, no running. Got it?
Me: Hmmm…

John: Katie!
Me: Ok, ok. Gosh.

He released me and took a step back, staring me down.
Me: You’re not very intimidating.
John: God dammit Katie!

And I ran. This time I dashed as far and as fast as I possibly could will my short legs and conversed feet to go. I glanced back once to see John glazing after me angrierly. I had to escape this time. Whether he was my dad or not, he had no right.
