Ego Libido Amo Tu In Aeternum, 14

The restof the week passed on pretty quickly. Varagas and I had mastered a few of spells, such as Ball of Elements and Spectral Projectile, but most of all, we learned about spell scrolls. We could prepare a number of spells in the morning from the scrolls, and use them by speaking their name in any language. Spanish was often christened “The magespeak” due to its use, and the fact that mages were practically the only group to use it aside from scholars. Best yet, we didn’t have to use any mana, which was excellent.

However, I learned one really important thing about mana. Using it is exhausting. The spell preparation often took an hour; it was like studying for a pop quiz, and the spell which were prepared could only be casted a limited number of times in one day, and even get to that point was tiring. The system for mana measurement (Magic Potential Points) showed that the average mage had about as much MPP as us, the rookies, and that still wasn’t enough!

No wonder Merlin looks so old.
