Ev tucked in to her medium-rare prime rib and broccoli with gusto, pausing only to gulp 3 cups of coffee. She ate two dinner rolls and downed a glass of milk. What was she if not well-balanced. She grabbed her kit off of the table after rinsing her dishes and chucking them in the dishwasher, found her laptop under a mountain of paperwork on her desk, then headed for the door.

Hawthorn headquarters had wireless internet and cable, for dull hours, and Ev liked to take advantage of that every once in a while. She glanced at her watch, it was only 5. It was still a mild gray outside, but definitely day time. She checked her car thoroughly before hopping in and starting it.

She drove the 15 miles rather quickly, eager to get out of this weather. She pulled up to the security monitor at the parking garage for Hawthorn and entered her pass code, fingerprints from both thumbs, voice recognition, and blood sample. Couldn’t have a zombie, wolf, or vamp just showing up.

She parked and buzzed into the building.
