“Hey, lady!” squealed a little voice at my feet. “What wazzat for?!”
I looked down, confused. I was in such a rush that morning that a probably wouldn’t have noticed if I’d stepped on an elephant. Well, except for the trumpeting.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to, I swear!” I exclaimed, still looking for the owner of the tiny voice.
“Ovah heah!” he screamed, bouncing on my foot. “Gawd, watsa matta wit chu, lady!”
“I’m sorry, I really am! I’m just in such a hurry to get to this meeting-”
“Some meetin, hah? You was like a freight train, comin down dat street!”
I laughed. “Yeah, I was.”
“You know wat, lady? I like you. You wanna know wat I can dos for yous?”
“Yeah, suwahs.”
“Hah-ha. Very funny. But I can speed up ya clock. Make everythin seem a little bit slowah. Watch da traffic tho. You culd be thinkin yowah goin 60 an end up goin 40.”
“Wow! Really?! Thank yo-” Suddenly my voice slowed down, not a lot, but enough to know my “clock” had slowed, “u.”
