Dangerous Thoughts

Who does she think she is?! I glared at the window which my mother had disappeared through.
“And what’s all this talk about a curse, anyway?” I mumbled to myself. I picked at my hair; Remembered the curse, and tucked the strand away behind my ear. I was believing what my mother said, but I was also leaning towards ignorance.
“It can’t be true,” I laughed, trying to convince myself.
“Fine, I’ll look up the meaning of the tower in my psychology book.”
I picked up the hearty dictionary and leafed through it until I found the definition of: “tower.”
I frowned at the paragraph and read it to my canary and the tower walls.

“Freud interprets the tower of Rapunzel as a phallic symbol…” I didn’t have to read anymore. “This guy is nuts,” I set down the book.

“Well, loudmouthed canary-” I said, turning to my lemon yellow birdy, “I’m going to leave this place!”

And live a life of my own.
