Dreaming

He opened his eyes as he felt the wind tug at his sleeves.

There was no point in screaming. He didn’t know how long he’d been falling but his arms and legs ached like he’d been running as though his life depended on it. Maybe he had. It was hard to tell here.

He screamed anyway. You never know your luck. This time might be different.

It wasn’t.

Everything changed.

It always did in the end. Sometimes for the good. Often for the bad. The only consistent thing was that it was always hard to be sure which way it was going to turn out.

He shut his eyes, and let the screams die out…

After all, the view from the window was quite breathtaking.
