Jealous?

Jealous of what? The power that came with the laurel. It was fleeting, a mere speck in the infinity of existance, and came with it a universe of worries that I’d much rather do without.

Jealous, maybe, that Brandon, the presumably now dead ruler, took my wife?

She would have been my wife, if Brandon hadn’t wooed her with lies and pretty chattels. The bastard.

“We’ve kept her alive,” Lucio said, his voice filled with a sinister leer. “She may be of, use, to us if you refuse to co-operate.

I refused to be bated and storm the barrier, burning myself on the streaks of earth energies. Instead I concentrated my anger on the earth itself. They may have blocked my access to fire, the one energy in which I excelled. But only Pater knew my darkest secret. The pull of the spectrum had tainted my blood. I was outcast of Guardians, and feared because of my strength.

I could use any energy I chose.

“Lucio,” I called him, his confidence wavered. “You will be dead before this day is out.”
