Simplicity

The lights and fumes of the city had long been left behind. The hustle and bustle and worries of everyday life had diminished.

The darkness engulfed my body. I literally couldn’t see my own hand in front of my face, but I knew where I was. I was no where near lost.

I could hear the calm waves slapping against the sandy shore. The soft sand shifted as I lay there taking deep breaths as an attempt to relax and calm my body.

I gazed up in wonder and awe at the billions of stars scattered above. A strip of powdery, white, chalk stars stretched across an infinite blackboard. The constellations danced around the sky, sparkling in splendor.

Sometimes it doesn’t take a huge life altering event to realize something spectacular. Sometimes all it takes is a simple thing in nature to remind us that there is more to life than we realize. And that it’s important to just live in the moment.
