Ponder

“Oh, Hell’s Bells.” I murmured to my whining cat as I pulled my trenchcoat back on. “I’ll feed you in the morning, babycakes.” I swear, that cat is going to get so fat if she keeps the begging ritual up. I shook my head and turned out the light, just as well, it wasn’t as if I couldn’t see.

On my way to the park, I realized two things. One, what I was doing to my friends was really wrong. Two, I didn’t really care. The second realization hurt more than the first. Two years ago, I totally would have cared. I mean, I would have treated my friends like gold. I still do, most of the time. It’s just once in a while…

That’s beside the point though, because I always rescue them. I’m the hero, not the criminal. How often are those two one and the same? There’s something to ponder for you. I tucked my deep brown hair behind my ear, and decided to ponder something else. I approached the swings, sat down and let my legs dangle. I’m short like that. I breathed a few times.

Would she ever return for me, her creation?
