Nightlife

School passed by too quickly, my hold on reality was weakening. As I began the long walk home, I realized just how isolated I felt. There was another party tonight, where I could drink and dance my differences into nothing, so long as I didn’t eat someone. I decided to go, since there always the chance she might be there.

I got home and got ready, laid out another morbidly red and black outfit for myself, just in case, and turned the shower as hot as it could go. My pale skin barely reacted to the steam and intense heat, but I knew it was nearly boiling. When I emerged, I felt cleaner than usual. My hair hung in thick ropes, dripping water down my back. I wiped the mirror with a towel and stared at my distorted reflection. Deep blue eyes, still blue, small nose, pink lips, all a blur. I looked away and walked into my bedroom, letting drops fall from my body onto the carpet.

I pulled a short black robe on and flicked on the TV. I watched some movie I can’t remember, time slipping away…

It was time to go.
