Climbing out of her window was the only way Emma could escape the abuse Mary inflicted on her. However this escape came with its own dangers, gangs would stroll the city allies at night when she would run away. She saw awful things, drug deal, fist fights even gun fights. Her dreams were filled with these images, as was her shoebox.

Emma kept all her pictures in a shoebox, hidden from unsuspecting eyes and unwanted visitors. She kept these pictures hidden as they were a secret that if spread around could send all the wrong messages. However these pictures would not be a secret forever.

One night Ben got home earlier than Mary expected, when he asked where Emma was she screamed “YOU DON ’T KNOW WHAT IT ’S LIKE THAT CHILD HATES ME !’’ Ben ran to Emma’s room and found it locked; he had to kick down the door just to get inside. Only to find that Emma was not there….
