Ms. McLeod is Gone (CLFM 40)

It only took a few minutes to find where the stink was coming from.

The whole sense of wrongness emanated from the rear of the school. A woman, teacher. McLeod sprung to mind as her name.

She’d bound a child’s hand and mouth with duct tape and was dragging the girl down the corridor to the fire exit at the back. Some hidden knowledge told me she had a car waiting on the other side.

“McLeod!” I called.

She spun to face me, she looked pale and frightened. Almost as if she knew what she was doing and unable to prevent herself from doing it.

I had no idea what I was doing but carried on anyway.

“This is wrong,” I told her. “Your life is wrong, you should never had married Seth.”

“Who, who are you? How do you know…”

“Trust me, McLeod. We can fix this, but we have to go now, before it’s too late.”

A knife appeared in her hand. “Stay back, or I’ll kill her.”

The fire exit opened and Les stepped in behind the unsuspecting woman.

“Please,” I said.

He touched her…she vanished.
