Four Legs Are Better than Two

Sioni sat down on a log, exhausted from hunger and blood loss; she put her head in her frozen hands.
My head is starting to spin, she thought to herself. Sioni put her head back, and took her bulky braid out from behind her; it was uncomfortable to sit on.

Alfred, she thought. Where are you? Are you looking for me?
A few tears trickled down her face as she thought about her not-so-perfect Prince Charming. He was goofy, but he could be serious when he wanted to—quite dashing, as well.
I need liquids…

Sioni’s vision was blurry as she got to her feet again. She found a small brook, gurgling happily as it poured over a few sparse rocks. She drank greedily; feeling rejuvenated, Sioni started to take in her surroundings.

Suddenly, she heard something that set her heart flying; hoofbeats.
Could it be? she asked herself.

Sioni crashed through the bushes, and parted the leaves and sticks.

What she saw instead rooted her to the ground.

A Unicorn.
