Liar...You Said You'd Never Leave

I sat down on my bed, musing about today’s events.

The coffee at Starbucks had been good. Well, maybe not so good, but it was at least enjoyable.

Coco was sleeping on her back, and wriggling this way and that every so often. Her lips were tightened in an imaginary growl as she chased something only she could see. I chuckled at my dog’s cuteness. I rubbed her tummy; she was absolutely oblivious.

I sat back down and looked on my desk.

That’s when I saw the picture that always managed to make my stomach knot. I could never bring myself to take it away from my desk. I always felt sick when I looked at it, but I couldn’t touch it.

It was like there was an invisible barrier that repelled my hand. Either that, or I’m just plain stubborn…or senile.

Mom, why did you leave?
