It's A Fish-Eat-Fish World

I had gone to the pet store to get some rabbit feed; I was waiting at the counter while the girl scuffled in the apothecary, trying to uncover some Timothy or Alfalfa Hay for my beloved fuzz back home.

I noticed a rather luminescent tank in the background, and walked up to it. I was surprised to see small, silvery, eel like fish swimming about in the crystal clear water. Their eyes were big, and their bottom jaws protruded over their top jaw, so they looked like a cross between eel and barracuda.

They swum around lazily, and another girl that worked at the pet store came up with a jar full of water. Inside were small, tiny fish, about the size of my thumbnail. Their glittered gold, and I wondered what they were for.

She took the jar, and tipped it into the tank. My eyes widened. Sure, those things looked placid; as soon as the small fish hit the water, they snapped one each in their jaws and crunched them down.

I gulped hard as I watched them float; Life did have a meaning, I concluded.
