The Candle Mass

“Although I did not meet him until after his death, I knew of your Grandfather.â€? Gereon said as they hiked down a narrow trail. “I have some of his work in my cabin. He made candles that could change the weather and others that light up the entire sky for hours, but his most sought after work was as necromancer, seeing the future by communicating with the dead. It’s how I knew of your coming on this day. He told me about this day.â€?

“You met him after his death? But how? When? Can I speak with him? Where is he?â€? Moondust asked excitedly.

“Moondust, I’m afraid that the answers will only beg more questions. He is where we go when we shed our earthly skins. Your Grandfather is with you now and always. You have never been alone.â€? Gereon said expansively as he made a sweeping motion with his hand. He called to his dog, Rogue, who was running ahead of them down the trail and into the brush.
