Small Words Cause Big Harm

She sat next to his hospital bed, clutching his cold hand, and praying to God for salvation; praying that he would see another sunrise, praying that he would live to be together with her again.

Hours passed like years, and the clock ticked endlessly around in infinite circles.

Finally, a sign of life!

His hazel eyes cracked open, and she nearly cried from joy; she hugged him and told him how glad she was that he was alive, that he survived the horrid ordeal.

With a silent movement, he pushed her away, slowly, but surely.

He looked her seriously in the eyes, keeping the gaze so she couldn’t look away.

“Who are you?”
