As the glow of black energy fell away, Elhana stepped up beside Arhan to admire his creation. The polished gleam of the weapon was beautiful in its own right, but quite commonplace. What really spoke of craftsmanship was the ancient carved shape of a wooden bow.

For centuries now, icebows had been made as weapons, but they had always been simple and functional; no more than few triangular sides that the physics of the two-part energy weapon required. But this… this weapon had an almost organic tapering; it spoke of ancient wooden bows, not made for millennia.

Elhana stared a moment, wondering.

“It’s unusual”, she offered.
