Blame

Eva’s face fell, her eyes grew softer. “You… you’ve got to her then.” She murmured, her voice cracking, “My daughter’s the one that’s cursed.” Helen shrugged, her eyes narrowed.

“I tried to remove it you know, but she ran off. I saved her life in that forest, and was going to heal her of any affliction I caused- it’s not my fault she decided to take a jaunt through the forest.” Her eyes were cold, Eva’s were blisteringly emotional.

“How could you, how could you curse an innocent girl?!” Eva shrieked, lunging at her with hands outstretched. Helen stepped deftly to the side. She was not about to fight this raging mother, there was no way to beat emotion.

“How could you, Eva?” She said coolly, “You’re the one that started this. I could have ended the cycle days ago, returned her to her tower by today, but she ran away.” Eva shook her head.

“I’m sorry for what I did to you, I had no idea what would happen-”

“Are you joking? Your grandmother was a witch. She taught you to say it! Of course you knew!”
