The Element: Friend or Foe

A man armored in blue, and armed to the teeth stood at the mouth of the cave. In his shadow stood a mage. A good looking one, at that. Why, had Axym been a wee bit taller, he would fancy a bit of that..
A spark lit a torch within his mind, and his axe came to the defense,
“Step no closer lad, and keep your pet mage away too!”
The swordsman raised his hand, and his eyes spied the inner-sanctum of the cave, squinting in the dim-light. Scratching a travel-scruffy beard, he showed his gloved hands, “We mean no harm, I swear to the Gods,”
“Gods be damned, boy!” said the dwarf, “If ya not want’a meet ‘em, you’ll turn foot and leave us be!”
The mage spoke, with music upon her voice, “Please. We mean only to see the girl to safety,”
“They’re coming,” came the girl’s whisper.
“Yes they are!” turning to the swordsman, the mage-woman said, “We have no time for this,”
“I’ll not fight an innocent man!”
“It’s a dwarf,”
The swordsman winced, “You mages are too quick to dispatch life for the sake of your end-game”
