Tara put her tiny black carry-on bag down on the seat, and, reaching up, tried to shove the much heavier and larger carry-on into the overhead compartment. She couldn’t quite reach. Of course, she knew what would happen if she couldn’t get it in. She’d seen lots of movies. The cute guy would stand up and help her out, they’d have a nice conversation, and then she’d be in love with him. Of course, he wouldn’t love her back. That’s where the similarities between her life and the movies would end.
So she made one last feeble attempt and chucked it as hard as she could into the overhead compartment. That choice turned out to be a bad one, since she suddenly found herself sprawled across the hot guys lap with a throbbing pain in the left side of her head. The bag had bounced back and fallen onto her! And, of course, with the books in it, it had some serious inertia.
“I’m Mark,” he said, looking at her with a smirk. “And clearly you are Grace.”
