Ficlets

Little memories, great pain

I got up around 12:30 that morning, and finished breakfast just before 2.
Wow… I haven’t slept in that late for a while…

I got on the computer and checked my facebook. Something burned inside of me when I saw the word single under my profile. I exited out, and checked my email before getting ready to go to Jack’s house. My parents were running errands, so I left a note on the fridge telling them I was going to Jack’s place for a while.

I grabbed a coke before jumping in my car. I took the keys out of my pocket, and felt my heart sink when I saw the keychain with Rachel’s picture on it. I ripped it off the chain, and turned the ignition. I turned the radio up, and pulled out of the driveway. As I drove down the main road leading out of my neighborhood, I remembered the time Rachel and I had sat on the hood of my car and watched the redish orange sunset next to the lake.
It seemed every little thing reminded me of her, every little thing stabbing my heart, until i reached Jack’s house.
