No Past

She sat there for a long time…she wasn’t sure how long. She knew that somewhere in the back of her head she was hoping that Chris would come and find her and save her again. But after being so mean…it was really too much to expect of him. Besides, it was like he’d said; New York was huge, even if he was looking for her, he probably wouldn’t find her.

Finally, the tears slowed, not from lack of sadness, but rather from lack of water-she just ran out. She tried to calm down, and eventually gathered the bits and pieces that were left of herself and her plan and attempted to glue them back together. She’d spent tonight on a bench…it was what she deserved after all. And then she’d look for some random job, one low enough to actually take her, a girl off the streets with no home, no references, and no past. That was all there was left to do at this point.

She picked her head up, ready to finally see the world again. And then…there he was. Across the street, just waiting for her to see him.
