Pretzels in the Library

“The monkeys told me I’d find you here.”
“Smart monkeys.”
“So, what are you doing here?”
“Same reason I walk into a library for a pretzel.”
“What?”
“I have no idea.”
“Why you walk into a library for a pretzel?”
“No, I mean I don’t know why I’m here, in this spot.”
“Well, you’re next to a barrel. Does that jog your memory?”
“Hm… maybe I should go for a jog.”
“Jogging has nothing to do with the reason you’re here.”
“Oh! I was trying to find a screwdriver, to fix my scooter.”
“But you can’t fix squat.”
“Yeah, but I was trying to find it so the monkeys could fix it.”
“You trust the monkeys to fix a scooter more than yourself? You have faith, my friend.”
“Hey, the monkeys are actually nice to me! You just have to be nice to them.”
“How in the world do you be nice to monkeys that bang on pipes and screech all day?!”
“Hey, if I can do it, you can do it.”
“Speak for yourself. I’m talking to you, remember.”
“True…”
