Portable Dance Party

The technology requirements for a party were pretty low, only three main things being required: music source, speakers and some way to power it all. While unpacking his gear DJ F -Bomb remembered the good old days when all he had available was an iPod and a battery powered boombox for these weekly events.

The laptop all his music was on had no moving parts save a keyboard, which allowed for battery life longer than most parties lasted. The speaker stacks required the most juice, provided by a small but excruciatingly heavy UPS battery.

With music and a way to make it louder, the only other thing required were people to dance, hang out and otherwise carouse. These people were found by the means of a script that allowed a text to be sent to the phones of several hundred people registered at his site with the time and place where the party could be found.

The mid 70’s temps and proximity of the city park he was at meant huge turnout that night, but no one could have predicted how crazy it would turn out to be.
