A Need in the Darkness

“It’s just that I know I shouldn’t be here,” Gabrielle almost whispered, “I have a husband and 3 young children at home.”

I took Gabrielle’s empty glass and added a couple more ice cubes from the ice bucket on the bar and filled the glass half full with more brandy and handed it back to her.

“Thank you,” Gabrielle said before drinking half of the liquid. “I wish you hadn’t stopped, I was caught in the moment but now I am afraid I am losing my nerve.”

I walked over to Gabrielle and tilted her face up to mine and our eyes locked. I wiped away a tear forming in the corner of her eye and bent forward to kiss her. She did not resist, but she didn’t have the passion she had before.

“I don’t know what you think of me, but we are more alike than you might think,” I whispered in her ear. “I need you, I want you.”

I don’t know if it was the brandy, or what I had just said, but I heard her let out a small sob just before she lightly pushed my head down to her parted legs.
