10 miles

“Just ten more miles” Jim said.
The fresh air wasn’t the only thing that made his walk worthwhile. Nor the blooming trees. It wasn’t the exercise. Jim knew that at the end of his ten mile walk he was going to see Mary. His first and everlasting love. And the miles didn’t matter as long as he could see her standing there on her front porch waiting for him to come.

Now he still sees her, in that blue dress she looked so beautiful in, standing on her front porch. He sees her, when he closes his eyes to go to sleep at night, he sees her.
