A good Poker Face

I couldn’t help but let out a playful chuckle, seeing her so disgusted by me.
“Really, I don’t think you want to be doing that.” I said calmly.

She pressed the gun harder against me.
“Oh, I think I do.”
I caught her eyes and raised my eyebrows.
“Oh, baby!”

The smirk on my face would have stayed quite a while longer had the look on her face not shattered it into a thousand little pieces. For a brief second I thought she was going to pull the trigger, and my eyes widened.

“You don’t know who you’re messing with.”

Ok, now I was starting to worry. Not only for the sake of my future lineage, but also that I just might have underestimated her by a smudge. As my father always said: In times of trouble, you better have a damn good poker face…

“Oh, but I do. Do you honestly think I would be stupid enough to pursue you on my own? Look around you, bella. They could be anywhere.”
“You’re lying…”
I shrugged indifferently.
“If you say so…”
The second she turned, the gun was down the sewer.

Cool continuation. You’d almost never guess that these two met in church.

Great sequel! Wonder what bella will do now that the gun is down the sewer?

Eckhouse is right… if no one knew better, some random person might think they met in a bar or something. This is intense, man!

Great, creative way to break the impasse. Very fun stuff, fitting several of the themes of previous parts to this rather disjointed series all at once.
