Prosopagnosia: Drowning

The water flowed over her. She sank deeper into it’s cool depths. Death waited. Her broken heart yearned for it.

Yet, something stirred deep inside her. Relentlessly it urged her to kick, to fight.

Her legs were intertwined in heavy rope. A heavy rock held one end, her body the other. Vainly, she struggled to free herself.

The darkness below seemed without end. A pale white hand reached up from within the murky depths. It reached for her.

Suddenly she was free. She swam upwards, towards the light, towards the waters surface. She reached for the air beyond her grasp. Her lungs burned.

Nails seared into her flesh. Paniced she looked down. The sickly white hand was grasping her ankle. It dragged her down towards a watery hell.

Gasping she awoke. Another dream more unanswered questions.

The sun creeped over the horizon. It’s warmth unable to penetrate the cold reality she found herself in.
