The Dance of the Trees

All you could hear was the wind;
It was dancing with the trees.
It’s a slow and graceful dance;
That they dance so frequently.
The grass joined into this dance,
By becoming the chorus.
The chorus swayed back and forth,
In that special, rhythmic way.
Wind chimes rung and the swings swung,
In unison with the trees.
Promptly, the music stopped;
For all was still and quiet.
But only for a moment.
And then that moment passed.

Clouds above leaked on us
Gently did it drop on us.
It made a pitter patter,
On the surfaces by us.
The grass didn’t move, of course,
Because it was not their turn.
Trees creaked high above us;
They were drinking up all the rain.
Tempo stopped, and slowed down.
The rain came down, but gently,
For fear of waking the town.
It started to become soft,
It lulled babies to sleep,
And became a peaceful thing.
And that was the end of the dance,
It was the dance of the trees.
