A Small Scuffle
“For such a tall person, Xiaoli, you move fast,” Lin joked, her face creased into an almost painful looking smile.
“Well, at least I don’t look like I’ve been injected with botox against my will,” I shot back, and then realized what I had just said.
Stupid, stupid move, I chastised myself as I saw Lin’s expression contort into one of pure anger; the expression I only saw usually when someone was scolding her or things didn’t go her way.
I don’t think I actually registered that my childhood friend turned around to be my biggest adversary.
Another face blurred my mind for a moment, but I didn’t have time to focus on it, because a spoon nearly decapitated me – thanks to those grueling lessons, I ducked before it hit me.
She lunged at me, and I grabbed her wrist with my two hands, falling onto my back and rolling her off of me.
We tumbled together, until I backed her up against a corner.
My eyes scanned the surroundings quickly, and I smirked before I could stop myself.
My means of escape : insured.
