The Wedding

I danced until my high-heeled shoe broke. Then I proceeded to empty the buffet. “Caroline. Easy up.” Will tried to stop me from putting that last forkfull into my mouth.
“Weddings depress me.”
“Really? I hadn’t noticed.” He snorted. After a couple of glares between us, the bride and groom went around the room saying how happy they were “that you came.” Well, what was everyone supposed to do? They had called us every twelve hours to ask if we were coming!

“Sara, remember when we vowed we’d never marry?” I whispered to the bride. Her nose twitched.
“We were nine and still thought boys were ‘icky’.”
“So? It was a pinky promise! We spit on it!”
“Grow up, Caroline.” Sara scowled and stalked off for more pictures.

“That was nice.” Will said sarcastically.
