Jonas Brothers: Part One

Ew. This was pretty suckish. It was my birthday, and it was pouring rain. Just my luck. Nothing was going right. Nothing at all. I mean, I had gotten a dozen of birthday cards, but somehow half my family thought I had turned eight, so it was pretty easy to throw out all the Hello Kitty Scratch and Sniff postcards.

I got out of bed and trudged downstairs to my mother making breakfast. Wow. This was unusual. My mother couldn’t cook what so ever. She would burn boiling water.
“Good morning sunshine!” she said as I sat down at the kitchen table. Ah, the usual greeting, plus the little pet name.
“Hi,” I said.
“What’s wrong with you? Your usually all….peppy,” said my mother, walking away from the toaster.
“I don’t like rainy days,”. Yep she was right. Rainy weather made me…mad.
“Well, do you know what today is?”
“Sunday?”
“It’s your birthday, silly goose!” Again with the pet names.
“Oh yeah,” I said, smiling.
“You got that right!” Soon enough my smile faded when I smelt something. Something burning.
