To save this message, press one. To delete this message, press two…

beep

Message has been deleted. To undelete this message, press one. To double-delete this message, press two…

Huh?

beep

Message has been double-deleted. To undelete this message, press one. To super-double-delete this message, press two…

...

“Hi, I got a voice mail message earlier tonight, and I tried to delete it, and your system wouldn’t let me.”

“Did you try pressing two?”

“Yes. Lots of times, but it doesn’t get rid of the message, it still keeps it, so I can get it back any time, and I don’t want to get it back. I just want it deleted.”

...

“Hi, Bob, it’s Steve over in Customer Service. I got a call from a customer freaking out about our delete system.” A pause. “Yep. System says he pressed two more than ten times before calling us. What is that? Quantum-extra-super-double-delete?” Chuckles. “Yeah, I’ve already forwarded the message to you. You’re definitely going to want to find out what this guy’s hiding.”
