“Essie, I didn’t mean to, it’s just…”

he began.

“It’s just what? Just forgot to slip your mind that you invited some British guy over to the house to chat over fish and chips?
About the fact that you were sending me away to London to live with some creepy man that I have never even met in my life?
Oh, not to mention that you want me to join some freaking club with a weird name that I can’t even recall at the moment?
You’ve lost it, really, you have!”

I shrieked, even louder yet.

“Essie, I am not sending you away. I am merely considering your best interests and ideals. You are invited to stay with my old friend for one summer while I attend to some business matters,”

my father replied, firmly yet nervously.

“Like what? Relationship business??!!”

I snorted. Still, I continued.

“You know, it’s awfully strange that while other fathers worry about their daughters dating and going steady with boys, I have to worry about my father doing such a thing!”
I grumbled.
