I went back to my room to get the supplies. I brought back some origami paper I was given at camp.I recalled the numorous origami projects that January had taught me.What I remembered most were the cranes. They were a sign of peace and good health, which Casimir needed right now. “I’m back,” I said softly. He still didn’t say anything; only looked at me with the slightest curiousity.I walked over to him and placed a paper crane atop the covers. It was made from shimmery forest green paper. “Where did this come from?” he asked, speaking at last. “I made it by folding a square of paper,” I explained. “Would you like me to show you?” I replied. He nodded. “Yes, I would like that,” he murmured. So I taught him, making about seven cranes in the process. “Maybe someday I will fold a crane,” he said. “And then I could fly upon it. The crane would take me somewhere beautiful. We would fly amoung the skies, where I could be free of irksome doctors and weakness and illness and lack of family and love,” he finished.
