Residing Dreams (Chapter 198)

Mr. Chrysanthemum saw me that evening, but only briefly. We didn’t go past polite formalities. When he asked if I were having a satisfactory time in London,I replied that there were many new discoveries I had made. But that was all. Then, Mr. Brown mentioned to me that Mr. Chrysanthemum would be leaving in a few weeks to travel to Spain. He always seemed to be away anyhow, so this wasn’t really of any importance to me. I was more concerned about Casimir. Was he alright?I understood why he had been so snippy, and righty so. It must have been very hard for him to never see his father. It was hard enough for me to be away from mine for one summer! Before Mr. Brown went to inform Casimir,he asked me if he was in any condition to be interupted. “Not for his butler to deliver a message. But he yearns to see his father,” I replied, somewhat sourly. In a gentler tone, I added, “He’s like a lion who has gone without food for a while.Except he is really a boy who has been starved of love.” Mr. Brown nodded, but said nothing.
