Phone Call

I sigh and flop down on my bed, the picture of helplessness.

I know, I’m utterly pathetic. I’m hung up over a guy that I’ve been ‘just friends’ with since middle school. I know him better than he knows himself. So why can’t I just realize that he’s not going to change?

How many songs have been written in the ‘just friends’ mentality? Why do we girls lament after those stupid, clueless guys who chase after all the wrong ones? It’s hardly fair.

By this time, I’ve worked myself up into a sufficient anger. I should just march up to Jack and tell him exactly how I feel, and exactly why he’s an idiot. That’s right.

The phone rings, and my heart skips a beat.

He launches into speech before I can say “hello”.

“Hey, Kace- okay, so you’re a girl, so I thought I’d ask you-” Congrats, moron, you’ve realized I’m a girl.

”...Anyway, do you think that I should just ask-”
“LEAVE ME ALONE !” I slam the phone down and regret it an instant later, anger gone.

Great. Now I have to explain to him tomorrow.
