Residing Dreams (Chapter 204)

“If something is ruined, then it cannot be fixed. But if something is broken, the pieces can be put back together. You just have to find the right kind of glue,” I whispered. Then, I recalled the porcelein rabbit Casimir had shown me. It had been broken once, but his father had fixed it. Casimir looked thoughtful for a moment, letting my words sink in. “You can’t lie on the floor all night,” I said, soothingly. “How about you go lie down in bed. You’ll be much more comfortable that way,” I suggested. Casimir obliged. Carefully, I helped him up, and he leaned on me for support. We stumbled out of the bathroom, and I half supported, half carried him to the bed. He sprawled out; a ghostly white figure among the sheets. “Please be okay,” I whispered, whether it be to Casimir or to God. As my friend lay there, ready to pass out, he whispered solemnly, “Essie. Don’t forget me. Come back for me. Don’t leave me here.” Then, he groaned in pain.
