Car ride

I hated leaving her, I always did. It was just so hard to exit our AIM conversations, or to press the ‘end call’ button on the phone. I sighed, thinking about her soft, warm smile, and the touch of her lips against mine. I was almost unable to think as I quickly got ready for church.

“Your mother and siblings are running erands this morning, so it’ll just be you and me going to church.” Said my father once I arrived downstairs.
I bit my lip as he said this, for I knew that I had to tell him about Rose on the way to church.
“Alright..” I said in a reluctant tone.

I got in the passenger side of my dad’s truck, holding my ipod in my right hand. I took my ipod everywhere, and listened to it whenever I had the slightest chance. But I did not put in my earbuds once I was seated, only allowing the ipod to rest on my lap. As we pulled out of the driveway, my dad noticed I wasn’t listening.
“What’s up?”
I bit my lip again, fearing his reaction.
“Well, I was wondering if I could see Rose again this summer..”
