Marriage and Moving

“We’re what?!â€? I almost spat out my expensive, Italy imported wine, but I quickly swallowed it down. It actually did taste pretty good, and I didn’t want to waste it all over our dining room table.
“Moving, hon!â€? Lizzie smiled brightly, hopefully, her engraved fork in mid air. “Isn’t it exciting?â€?
“What?!â€? I repeated myself, sure she hadn’t understood. Moving wasn’t part of my Senior year plan. Surely Lizzie wasn’t going to ruin my life like this. “We can’t!â€?
“Yes, we can. In fact, Ted and I are shooting for August twenty-fourth. It’s both of our favorite numbers, isn’t that funny?â€? Lizzie seemed disappointed by my reaction to her apparently fabulous news, but she smiled at me fondly.
“Wait, what? Shooting for what?â€? I stared at her in disbelief. Surely she wouldn’t do what I thought she was talking about.
“Ted and I are going to get married, hon. Didn’t I tell you?â€?
