“Ooh, what’s this?â? Claire bent down and picked up the invitation. Her green eyes lit up as she read it. She looked down at her daughter with pride. “See, Honey? I told you this would be easier. You’ve already made some friends!â?
Moon smiled bitterly. If only her mother knew the real reason she had the invitation.
“Hey, Mom?â? She asked, taking a deep breath.
“What is it, Moon dear?â?
“D’you think you’ll ever do any movies again?â?
Claire sighed, and the smile melted off of her face, replaced by a weary frown. She shifted uncomfortably. “Well, dear, I don’t know. We’re trying to give you a normal life, and something like that would just complicate things.â?
“You haven’t had any offers, huh?â? Moon said bluntly.
“Well…no.â? Claire frowned. “I just don’t get it. We were huge. Then it ended, just like that.â? She snapped her fingers for extra emphasis.
“Maybe…something will work out? I mean, look at John Travolta!â? Said Moon hopefully.
Claire laughed wistfully. “Honey, life doesn’t always have a happy ending.â?
