“Ooh, what’s this?â€? Claire bent down and picked up the invitation. Her green eyes lit up as she read it. She looked down at her daughter with pride. “See, Honey? I told you this would be easier. You’ve already made some friends!â€?

Moon smiled bitterly. If only her mother knew the real reason she had the invitation.

“Hey, Mom?â€? She asked, taking a deep breath.

“What is it, Moon dear?â€?

“D’you think you’ll ever do any movies again?â€?

Claire sighed, and the smile melted off of her face, replaced by a weary frown. She shifted uncomfortably. “Well, dear, I don’t know. We’re trying to give you a normal life, and something like that would just complicate things.â€?

“You haven’t had any offers, huh?â€? Moon said bluntly.

“Well…no.â€? Claire frowned. “I just don’t get it. We were huge. Then it ended, just like that.â€? She snapped her fingers for extra emphasis.

“Maybe…something will work out? I mean, look at John Travolta!â€? Said Moon hopefully.

Claire laughed wistfully. “Honey, life doesn’t always have a happy ending.â€?
