There were still people on the bus. I could tell now that some of them needed help. I heard them screaming, trying to get away…

I ran to the bus, climbing through the window that was now turned ninety degrees the other way. Some people were climbing out, and some were still in shock from what’d happened, but I couldn’t find anyone yelling. Yet, its cacophony was still ringing in my ears.

“Who is that?!” I yelled out.

No one responded.

The girl fell in the bus through the window behind me, looking at me quizzically.

Pacing up and down the aisles, I searched for the source of the sound.

I then realized I’d heard this before. The distinct tone, the rising volume..

The yelling grew louder, and I put my hands over my ears, trying to keep the sound from reaching me. This couldn’t be happening again.

No, it wouldn’t happen again. I would make sure of it.

I had to get away, stay away from all of these people.

I jumped out of the emergency exit and ran into the woods lining the street.
